Job Description:

Position : Principal Electrical Engineer (Controls & Power Systems)

Location : Houston TX

Duration: 12+ months - Contract to Full time


Core Skills Required to Perform the Role

  • Electrical system design for mobile equipment

  • Controls engineering (PLC/embedded controls, sensors, actuators)

  • Power system design (power distribution, protection, grounding

  • Ability to develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)

  • Design verification using empirical and analytical method

  • Application of industry standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, ISO, API as applicable)

  • Risk assessment and risk mitigation planning

  • Implementation of new technologies in electronic system design

  • Strong technical documentation and design review skills

  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration and mentoring

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently under broad direction

  • Detail-oriented, especially in design verification, safety, and documentation

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Familiarity with Reliability, Health, Safety & Environment (RHSE/HSE) principles

  • Experience supporting process improvement initiatives

  • Ability to evaluate and manage technical and project risks

  • Ability to present technical concepts to internal and external stakeholder

  • Capability to represent the company at professional societies and conferences


Education Requirement

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Preferred: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or similar

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience


Required / Preferred Certifications

  • SafeLand USA (commonly required for oil & gas environments)

  • H2S Awareness (preferred/required depending on exposure)

  • Electrical safety training (e.g., NFPA 70E) – preferred
