The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales and Business Development Director to join our team. This revenue-oriented person will be responsible for creating, closing, and managing client partnerships, with a particular focus on associations. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in business development within a marketing or advertising agency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience within a marketing, advertising, or similar business with a focus on project/service-oriented sales.
  • Strategic thinker and relationship builder with a proven ability to generate and close business.
  • Self-starter who defaults to action with strong leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in creating, documenting, and executing strategic plans for business growth and client acquisition.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology and tools and ability to adopt and adapt to them (ie. g-suite, project management software, Slack, zoom, CRM, etc).
  • Creative thinker with a growth mindset. Willing to stay attuned to industry trends to support current and future clients.
  • This role demands a strategic mindset, successful business development experience, and creative solution articulation.
  • Experienced/educated on sales methodologies (ie. MEDDIC/MEDDPICC, BANT, SPICED, etc.)
  • Proven ability to create proposals and demos in response to RFPs.

Responsibilities

  • Shape market segmentation, client acquisition, and growth initiatives for agency services.
  • Collaborate closely with the leadership team to drive revenue, identify new opportunities, and enhance industry leadership.
  • Nurture existing relationships, reach out to potential partners, and effectively communicate Position’s solutions.
  • Develop and execute accurate sales forecasts, striving to exceed revenue goals through personal and team efforts.
  • Research and prospect potential new clients, communicating agency solutions, advantages, and capabilities.
  • Build a network through strategic outreach for new opportunities and revenue generation.
  • Develop an overall outreach plan and best practices for relationship-building.
  • Lead weekly business development meetings.
  • Create, close, and manage all client partnerships.
  • Persistently explore and uncover the business and product feature needs of Position’s clients, building deep relationships for both branding and website design services.
  • Consult with association professionals, assess their business needs, and explain how our services can positively impact their organization
  • Strong ability to create proposals and demos in response to RFPs.
  • Consult with association professionals, assess their business needs, and explain how our services can positively impact their organization.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from securing new business partnerships to facilitating a smooth onboarding process.
  • Meet and exceed monthly sales goals.
  • Travel to association industry trade shows across the U.S. to deliver presentations and consult with association professionals in person.
  • Attend select conferences, and industry events, review publications, and expand personal networks.
  • Submit business development activity via CRM, including contacts, meetings, reports, plans, and outcomes.
