Position Summary:
The Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and supporting compliance within a healthcare/TPA environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in insurance or healthcare finance and will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data under the supervision of the Financial Chief
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
- Process journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in compliance with GAAP.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, claims accounts, and premium receipts.
- Monitor accounts payable/receivable and coordinate with vendors and clients.
- Support preparation of regulatory filings and internal financial statements.
- Analyze financial performance and identify trends or discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate cost allocations.
- Prepare audit schedules and assist with internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, insurance regulations, and corporate policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or insurance setting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Experience with accounting software QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA candidates are a plus.
- Experience with claims processing or premium reconciliation in a TPA or insurance company.
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations.
