The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and innovative Science Long Term Substitute Teacher for our Upper School. The ideal candidate should have mid-level teaching experience, be committed to our educational aims, and be able to step into the classroom with creativity and expertise to deliver high-quality instruction to our students.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials in accordance to State Standards for Science.
- Implement comprehensive classroom instruction in alignment with approved curriculum in Science.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Identify students' individual learning needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintain open communication with parents and provide appropriate feedback regarding students' progress and needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field. A Master’s degree in Education or relevant field is preferred.
- Minimum of three years teaching experience in a secondary school setting.
- Current and valid teaching certification in the State of California, with an endorsement in Science.
- Experience with diverse student populations and a dedication to an inclusive teaching environment.
- Adept in delivering remote and hybrid teaching models as required.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience in an urban public school or charter school setting.
- Fluency in Spanish or another second language.
- Ability to integrate technology in classroom instruction.
- Experience across varied grade levels.
- Knowledge of project based learning methodologies.
