Lighthouse Community Public Schools is looking for a talented Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) Attendance District Coordinator to join our team who is relentlessly committed to ensuring that traditionally underserved students of color achieve our mission of completing college, securing a career of their choice, and becoming lifelong changemakers in their communities. LCPS staff believe that this important mission is not only attainable; it is essential to transforming our Oakland community. The MTSS Attendance District Coordinator will be an integral part of the student services team with a primary focus on coordinating services and interventions across both of our K-12 campuses.

This role is a great opportunity for a leader who is passionate about supporting students’ access to school and learning; who is creative, collaborative, and solutions-oriented when supporting complex student needs and designing systems to support all students and families in experiencing strong attendance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop, Implement, and Progress Monitor Attendance Programming
    • In partnership with site-based leaders during attendance team meetings, oversee LCPS-wide attendance programs and campaigns
    • In collaboration with site-based leadership, support the design of LCPS systems to manage daily attendance (e.g. tracking students who have missed consecutive days in a row, communicating with staff about student absenteeism, and completing home visits for students with excessive absences)
    • Oversee site based follow-through on supplemental and intensive supports for identified students who are chronically absent or truant.
    • Provide staff training on strategies to increase student attendance and school connectedness
    • Participate in IEPs and 504 meetings for students experiencing attendance issues
    • Monitor the quality of the attendance initiatives through the collection and root cause analysis of data to better understand the impact of programs and services over time and to determine programmatic shifts or adjustment


  • Lead and Train Site-Based Teams in Attendance Policies and Initiatives
    • Prepare, facilitate, and lead cross-functional attendance team meetings at sites.
    • Maintain consistent external communication about attendance
    • Train site-based leaders to design and implement individualized student attendance support plans through SART meetings that leverage evidence-based strategies and practices in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, such as families, teachers, community mental health providers, and school based counselors


  • Oversee Site Based Implementation of SART and Execute SARB
    • Collaborate with the family engagement coordinator to connect families to resources needed to attend school as part of SART processes as required by EdCode and LCPS policies
    • Coordinate, refer and submit the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) referrals to District SARB as appropriate per LCPS’ policies.
    • Implement and oversee the District School Attendance Review Board (SARB) program.
    • Lead and coordinate family meetings with students in need of SART & SARB processes


  • Collaborate with Attendance Stakeholders
    • Oversee accuracy of student enrollment in attendance system to identify students who may meet our attendance policy’s disenrollment thresholds; collaborate with attendance clerk on weekly site-based truancy and chronic absenteeism letters.

    • Prepare attendance reports and presentations regarding the efficacy of attendance initiatives as requested by the district administration and the LCPS School Board.
    • Collaborate with outside school partners to increase attendance.
    • Lead family trainings about attendance at events like Coffee Tuesday, Back to School Night, wellness committees, and other family events as identified by supervisor


  • Coordinate Supports Related to McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
    • Monitor the coordination of supports for students who are experiencing homelessness
    • Act as a liaison between the school and community agencies, such as social services, housing support, and other public or private agencies.
    • Complete other duties as outlined in the LCPS attendance playbook and policy
    • Other duties as assigned


SUPERVISION

This position reports to the Director of Student Services.


TIME COMMITMENT

This position is 1.0 FTE (full-time exempt) and follows a 12-month (233 day) work year with significant student-free days for professional learning and collaboration with colleagues and interaction with families. Includes approximately 5 weeks of paid holidays/breaks during the school year in addition to accruing 10 days of PTO during the year for use during the summer.

Common Building Hours: All leadership staff are expected to maintain hours of 8:00 - 5:00 pm M-F with some flexibility to establish exact working hours based on full administrative team schedule.


OUR COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Range: $80-100K. Commensurate with experience.

Please note this role is grant-funded and future funding for this position is dependent on continued funding and budget for these roles.
