Purpose of Position:

The NPI Field Technician is responsible for installation, programming, repairing, and maintaining automated machinery or computer systems on all Hexagon products and equipment at our NPI proving grounds. This position involves frequent travel to work at our proving grounds, as well some travel to other sites, both underground and/or surface locally and internationally.

To participate in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure the products the company releases achieve the specified customer objectives, through the successful completion of our Field, Operational, and Market readiness stage gates.

To manage our proving grounds contractor safety program ensuring Hexagon meets and exceeds the proving grounds owners own safety program.

Ensure products achieve the stated customer and functional requirements.

Assist in the development of functional requirement specifications for products

Assist with competitor analysis activities

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Installation expertise, calibrating, configuring, testing, maintaining, evaluating and troubleshooting, pre-commissioning on proving ground fleet
  • Commissioning and repair as Hexagon technologies, including all new technologies developed.
  • Travel to various locations both domestic and international.
  • Help the research & development team with the integration of new technologies and equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of equipment and associated equipment.
  • Provide installation expertise at customer sites as well as conducting pre-installation assistance.
  • Read and review blueprints, plans, specifications and other documentation to prepare for start-up or service.
  • Capture all field changes required for proper documentation when completing a job.
  • Build customer relationship in a professional manner through solution-oriented communications and service.
  • Provide technical support to other Field Service Technicians in the field.
  • Complete technical reports, failure reports, etc.
  • Stay current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a common and effective approach to NPI processes, documentation structure and content, and issue logging.
  • Adheres to Hexagon values.

Knowledge and Experience - Required:

  • Technical certification or equivalent experience in equipment electrical, mechanical, or other relevant field
  • 3 - 5 years relevant mining field experience
  • Above average knowledge of computer software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Fluent English (written and verbal). Additional languages (e.g. Portuguese, Spanish) would be highly regarded.

Knowledge and Experience - Desired:

  • Must be able to work on surface or underground and may be exposed to harsh work environments.
  • Must be willing and able to meet mandatory site requirements.
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics.
  • Ability to work on short notice varied shift schedules and to travel as required.

Travel:

  • up to 25% travel domestically and internationally
  • Working from the Hexagon Proving Grounds outside Miami, AZ is required on a weekly basis. While tests are ongoing, being at the site daily is a requirement. During other periods, one or two days a week is required.
  • Travel to Butte, Montana is required as needed to install or maintain equipment in underground mining
