Purpose of Position:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Product Engineering Specialist to join our Hardware Design team. This role is pivotal in driving excellence across product introductions (NPI), product end-of-life (EOL) management, certification processes, and cross-functional technical collaboration. The ideal candidate will be a proactive facilitator who thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Enhance Change Control & Documentation: Improve and maintain robust change control processes and ensure accurate, timely documentation.
- Lead Product EOL Management: Oversee and execute end-of-life strategies for products, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to customers and operations.
- Drive Certifications & Homologation: Manage and coordinate product certifications and homologation processes across global markets.
- Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a technical liaison between Regional Leadership, Product Management, Engineering, and Product Line Architecture (PLA) teams to ensure alignment and clarity.
- Strengthen Portfolio Execution: Support project readiness and execution by ensuring all technical and process prerequisites are met.
- Assess In-Region Design Options: Evaluate locally source-able parts and replacement parts that have no impact on product form, fit, or function for incorporations in new designs.
Knowledge and Experience - Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product lifecycle management, engineering operations, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of certification and homologation processes.
- Proven experience with change control systems and documentation best practices.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
- Experience in mining, heavy equipment, or autonomous vehicle systems
- Familiarity with RF systems, electronics packaging, and EMI shielding
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, machining, and test equipment
- Experience with IP-rated designs and field deployment in harsh environments
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory compliance
Travel:
- Approximately 2 weeks of travel per year; possible events requiring travel include a new vendor audit, oversight of a field trial of a new design, compliance testing support.
