Design Technologist
ENGINEERING/RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT | Hybrid in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada | Full Time | From CAD $45,500 to CAD $64,500 per year
Position will need someone to be within 2 hours of Sudbury, in office on occassion.

Purpose of Position:
Hexagon’s Integrated Machine Systems division is looking for a Design Technologist to join our team! The Design Technologist is responsible for preparing engineering designs, drawings and related technical information enabling machine control through Hexagons numerous product offerings.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Develop and prepare design concepts.
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
- Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
- Keep up to date on industry and engineering standards.
- Produce detailed drawings and specifications using dedicated computer software (CAD) to produce design specifications.
- Review and understand machine schematics, operator manuals.
- Prepare electronic layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, material and equipment requirements from machine specifications, and standard layouts provided
- Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction
- Brainstorm as part of a team or developing design concepts using CAD and other traditional design tools.
- Review plans and write technical reports to meet project specifications.
- Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities.
- Work with internal ERP software.
- Support field implementations when escalated
Knowledge and Experience - Required:
- Post-secondary diploma in engineering design and drafting technology or in a related field
- Experience working with an ISO 9001 environment would be considered an asset

- Able to work in a collaborative, multi-site, team environment
- Confident Self-starter
- Detail oriented person able to follow complex instructions with a “first-time right” attitude

Travel:
- Up to 10% Domestic travel
