As the Senior Director of Engineering, you will lead and oversee the engineering team responsible for the development, delivery, and maintenance of our core technology platforms and products. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and a passion for building scalable, reliable, and innovative EdTech solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Design, and Operations, to align engineering initiatives with business goals and drive the company's growth and impact in the education sector.

100% Remote - Anywhere within the US
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of software architecture, cloud computing, and modern software development practices.
Experience with Agile methodologies and leading cross-functional Agile teams.
Strong knowledge of programming languages, frameworks (some of Java, Ruby, React, are preferred etc.).
Leadership & Management:
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to navigate complex technical and business challenges.
Strong project management skills, with experience in managing large-scale projects from concept to completion.
Product Development:
Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and secure software solutions that meet the needs of educators, learners, and administrators.
Collaborate with Product Management and Design teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products that delight users and meet market demands.
Ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects while maintaining high standards of quality, performance, and security.
Technical Excellence:
Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, automation, DevOps, and CI/CD.
Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies, and evaluate their potential to enhance our engineering practices and product offerings.
Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of the company's technology infrastructure and platforms.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner with other departments, including Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support, to align engineering efforts with business needs and customer expectations.
Communicate engineering goals, progress, and challenges to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Operational Efficiency:
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and practices.
Manage the engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-effective solutions.
Drive process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce technical debt, and accelerate the development lifecycle.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fields
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in the EdTech industry.
Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
