Lead Backend Engineer - Node.JS

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced and hands-on Lead Backend Engineer – Node.js to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in Node.js backend development, cloud-native architecture on AWS, and strong experience designing scalable enterprise-grade applications. Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5 will be considered a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems using Node.js.
• Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Work closely with frontend, DevOps, QA, product, and enterprise teams for end-to-end delivery.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, security, and performance optimization.
• Mentor and guide senior engineers and development teams.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and solution design sessions.
• Collaborate with enterprise and SAP ecosystem teams where required.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation, monitoring, and infrastructure improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of strong hands-on experience with Node.js.
• Expertise in Express.js, NestJS, Fastify, or similar Node.js frameworks.
• Strong experience in designing and developing REST APIs and Microservices.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and IAM.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of scalable distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with performance optimization, caching, and system scalability.
• Excellent problem-solving and architectural decision-making skills.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale engineering projects and mentoring technical teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori/UI5 would be a strong plus.
• Experience with TypeScript and GraphQL would be an added advantage.
• Understanding of security, reliability, and cloud best practices.
