Reports To: Chief Engineer

Experience Required: 3–4 Years

Position Summary

KHOJ is looking for passionate Assistant Chief Engineer who will be responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer in the day-to-day management of the Engineering Department and ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all engineering systems, machinery, equipment, and facilities across the resort. The role involves supervising maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, coordinating with vendors, and assisting in preventive maintenance planning to ensure uninterrupted resort operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the daily operations of the Engineering Department.
  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of all engineering equipment and systems.
  • Monitor the proper functioning of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, kitchen, and utility systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment and engineering facilities to ensure optimal performance and compliance with operational standards.
  • Review daily engineering logbooks and ensure timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support the planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for maintenance, repairs, and service work.
  • Monitor the quality of engineering materials, equipment, and spare parts procured for the department.
  • Maintain equipment history records, maintenance logs, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring utility consumption and recommend measures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with fire, life safety, and health & safety regulations.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and operational issues.
  • Supervise and guide engineering technicians to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist in preparing departmental reports, inventories, and maintenance records.
  • Support budget planning by monitoring CapEx and OpEx requirements related to engineering operations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and represent the Engineering Department in the absence of the Chief Engineer when required.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing engineering team members.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely resolution of engineering-related issues.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and technological advancements in engineering and facility management.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or Management.

Prerequisites

  • Sound knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), HVAC, Kitchen Equipment, and general building maintenance.
  • Good understanding of fire and life safety systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and facility management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering maintenance systems.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and motivate engineering staff.

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant technical certifications will be considered an added advantage.

Experience

  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in hotel engineering, facility management, or a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Experience in a four-star or five-star hotel or luxury resort environment will be preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, utilities management, and engineering operations.
