Textile Colorist

Position:

Champro Sports is seeking a temporary Textile Colorist. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in creating and maintaining a multi-color library and daily comments. Your expertise will shape the visual identity of our brand, ensuring consistency.   • Between 32-40 hours/week
  • Possibility for temp-to-hire if the person is a good fit. We expect to have other projects related to fabric quality as we grow.
  • Have to be flexible/open to other fabric-related assignments on an as-needed basis.
    • Checking physical qualities of fabric
  • Have to be OK working in uncertainty, undefined procedures, undefined parameters in order to reach a solution; have to be a problem-solver and think about how our team and systems fit in to the larger picture.

Responsibilities:

  • Master spectrometer operations, including calibration and reading interpretation, to validate color accuracy
  • Facilitate the lab dip color approval process, request lab dip resubmits
  • Review color and provide color direction for lab dips and bulk
  • Direct communication with mills with reports, data, and color comments
  • Work with overseas mills and vendors throughout the development process and ensure delivery
  • Support with maintaining accurate color records and color approval histories in color library, which includes filing back all used folders at end of day
  • Ensure records are maintained across all required charts (Color Trackers, Monthly Stock Meeting chart, spectrophotometer batch status updates, Color Lab Development Dashboard, and any other future platforms)
  • Maintain Color Continuity Books
  • Provide support during department’s move to a new software systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in textiles or related field
  • 2-4+ years of relevant color experience
  • Prior experience dealing with color submissions for apparel retailers is a plus
  • Prefer Superior color discrimination (Hue Munsell 100 Color Test)
  • Experience with overseas vendors/suppliers
  • Expert use of Excel and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of color theory & matching
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Proactive team player with strong initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and positive disposition, helpful to internal team
  • Experience working with a PLM system
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and excellent attention to detail
  • Must be extremely organized and can multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be eager to learn about Color Science to best partner with team and brand at large
