Position:

United States based corporation is looking for a experienced bilingual leader for our Human Resource Director role to ensure that all human resources (HR) operations and services are carried out smoothly, effectively and at a high professional service level. This role will be responsible for developing human resource strategies and providing sound advice to senior management on all related subjects. The candidate must be an experienced professional with deep knowledge of all matters concerning human resources departments, including operations, employee relations, compensation and more. This role should be able to manage programs and lead staff while also possessing a strong strategic mindset. The goal is to ensure that all human resource needs of the company are being met and are aligned with all business objectives. This role will currently manage 2 locations including La Vega and Santiago in the Dominican Republic and will report to the VP of Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop corporate plans for a variety of human resources matters such as compensation, benefits, culture, health, and safety, etc.
  • Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and survey to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with country and local employment laws, regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure alignment with parent company goals while upholding a professional work environment for all team members.
  • Act to support the human factor in the company by devising strategies for performance evaluation, staffing, training and development, etc.
  • Supervise the work of human resource personnel and provide guidance. Support a team of up to 9 total reports including 3 Human Resource managers.
  • Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required as well as ensure policies and procedures are followed. Anticipate and resolve litigation risks.
  • Design, implement and oversee best in class employee engagement strategies and tactics that support the organizational goals and priorities. Identify areas of improvement in existing processes as well as create new programs to address employee engagement and employee retention.
  • Build and manage employee satisfaction across the entire employee lifecycle from recruiting/hiring all the way through employee attrition.
  • Support the development and execution of internal employee communication plan to ensure the vision and organizational information is communicated regularly and effectively.

Education/Requirements:

  • 8 to 10 years’ experience related to human resources experience. values, and initiatives
  • 5 years’ experience with direct leadership of human resource teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor law or psychology

Required Skills:

  • Ability to manage at a high level, develop recommendations and proposals to better the organizations operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations in the Dominican Republic
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of data analysis, reporting and advising on return on investment
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diligent and firm with high ethical standards
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (speaking/writing)
