Athletic Apparel Product Manager

We are a growing company that seeks a qualified Product Manager for our Corporate Office in Bannockburn, Illinois.

Position: ATHLETIC APPAREL BACKGROUND REQUIRED

The Athletic Apparel Product Manager is responsible for managing a fast-growing athletic apparel portion of the overall company strategy. The ideal candidate will be able to understand and develop the product and marketing strategy as well as identify new product opportunities. The Product Manager will have P & L responsibility and will be responsible for every aspect of each product that they manage.

Responsibilities:

• Will be responsible for all sport categories, men's, women's and youth
• Develop and implement product and marketing strategy for new and existing products
• Monitor and research current sports apparel trends to determine new product opportunities
• Take new products from conception to market within a set time frame and budget
• Research and analyze competition and products offered
• Understand functional and regulatory product requirements and work with suppliers to achieve them
• Coordinate production schedules with overseas factories
• Forecast product sales and work with Inventory Analysts to plan inventory levels
• Establish pricing strategies and analyze profit margins
• Work with graphic designers on the development of sales materials and packaging design
• Create and maintain product documentation, including detailed product specification sheets

Qualifications & Skills:

• 2-3 years of experience with product management
• New product development experience preferred
• MBA or Apparel Degree preferred, but not required
• Experience participating in and / or coaching team sports a definite plus
• Detail oriented, with excellent organization and follow-through
• The ability to quickly adjust priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Practical and quantitative analytical skills
• The ability to work on cross-functional teams
• Position involves occasional travel
