About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

Job Responsibilities:

Cecil College is providing NCCER accredited training programs that provide people with the basic skills and confidence needed to pursue a career in the alternative energy industry. This instructor position provides ongoing classroom instruction and facilitation of an alternative and renewable energy curriculum to a class of adult learners. The curriculum that covers the production and distribution of electricity generated from biomass, biofuel, nuclear, wind and solar energy sources. The instructor will aid in the growth of this program by delivering classroom instruction on an ongoing basis.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Documentation of students’ attendance and academic progress by giving and grading examinations and accountability standards.
  • Database proficiency and familiarity with timely data entry.
  • Interpretation of NCCER curriculum and ability to effectively communicate learning objectives. Training on the NCCER curriculum will be provided to instructors, if needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Journey or technician level in area of expertise
  • Knowledge of alternative and renewable energy, tools, skills and ability to communicate in a classroom setting.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Professional attitude and a desire to help students succeed.

Desired skills/experience:

  • Prior teaching experience
  • Be an NCCER-certified instructor
Based upon the budgeted hours of a position, contribution to the Maryland State Retirement Pension System may be required.
