A leading medical institution is seeking a Principal Trainer to support the delivery of clinical application training by developing and maintaining training programs, troubleshooting application issues, collaborating with technical and operational teams, and ensuring end users are prepared to utilize electronic health record systems across multiple clinical locations.
Principal Trainer Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and deliver training programs, curriculum, instructional materials, and user documentation for clinical information systems while supporting end users across multiple locations and varying schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Provide end-user support by troubleshooting training and application issues, distinguishing between training and system build concerns, documenting system issues for technical follow-up, and assisting users with complex workflows and clinical application functionality.
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical teams to support system design, implementation, testing, quality assurance, maintenance, user adoption, workflow optimization, and training initiatives across assigned clinical application areas.
- Research and resolve complex issues spanning multiple applications and operational departments, analyze system performance and documentation, execute testing, prepare reports, and recommend effective solutions to improve functionality, efficiency, and user experience.
- Serve as a technical resource to clinical leaders and stakeholders by providing guidance on system functionality, performance, policies, cost-effectiveness, and best practices while escalating issues involving patient safety, compliance, significant workflow changes, or expanded project scope.
Principal Trainer Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience supporting clinical applications, healthcare information systems, or electronic health record training.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare information technology, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Epic Cupid certification.
- Knowledge of one or more clinical application areas, including system design, development, implementation, maintenance, user support, training, quality assurance, testing, and evaluation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues, differentiate training from system build issues, develop effective solutions, and document findings for technical teams.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in documentation, reporting, system testing, performance analysis, and producing detailed reports.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and support users at all professional and technical levels.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, collaborate effectively with senior staff and managers, and handle challenging or resistant end users in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Shift:
- Hybrid: Variable schedule and locations. Tentatively, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- May include working occasionally on evenings and weekends.
