About the role:

We are seeking an intern for Allogene’s Cell Engineering Research Team to screen and evaluate constructs to knockdown genes using a microRNA-based technology, either alone or in combination with a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). This work will enable the development of a next-generation allogeneic CAR T cell therapy. Specifically, the intern will engineer T cells with these novel constructs and evaluate the engineered CAR T cells with a variety of in vitro potency assays.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The candidate will generate CAR T cells and characterize their phenotype using multicolor flow cytometry
  • The candidate will perform in vitro assays such as cytotoxicity assays and maintain cell culture of primary T cells and tumor cell lines.
  • The individual will be responsible for analyzing experimental data and presenting results in group presentations
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Experience:

  • Currently or recently enrolled in an accredited university with a biology major or related field required (or relevant experience)
  • Have worked in a research laboratory setting or have taken a general biology lab course
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
