About the role:

The intern will learn the challenges of single use and ancillary component integration into cell therapy GMP manufacturing process. The Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT)industry presents additional challenges of navigating less-defined/evolving agency guidelines making application of certain manufacturing components difficult but necessary to ultimately meet patients' standard of care.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating single use formulation mixing vessel(s) for next-generation Drug Product fill/finish process
  • Characterization package should include but not limited to evaluation of vessel component(s) material of composition (MOC), mixing dynamic and homogeneity, correlation between vessel/mixer impeller dimension and efficiency, correlation between vessel manufacturing process and visible/subvisible particle load (align with <USP> 788, 790), preconditioning options for particle mitigation, and chemical capability and leachables analysis
  • The drug product group currently has qualified third party vendors to accomplish the characterization as well as in-house capabilities but require person with strong interpersonal and communication skills for vendor interactions as well as the ability to think out side the box to vet a new manufacturing ancillary component addressing current and future risk-to-patient concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Experience:

  • Enrollment in an academic institute to attain BS/MS in Material Sciences or related field required (or relevant experience)
  • 0-2+ years of experience in similar role in biotechnology industry
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
