Job Description: 

Allogene is seeking a Manager, Reporting and Technical Accounting who will primarily be responsible for Clinical Trial accounting, as well as helping the company address technical accounting issues arising from business transactions or the implementation of new accounting pronouncements. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting this role is essential to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of reporting in accordance with GAAP, SEC requirements and best practices. This individual will interact with various levels of management and third parties across financial and operational projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA with biotechnology or pharmaceutical experience. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Execution of critical accounting processes related to clinical trial accounting, collaboration accrual accounting and other areas of accounting related to the clinical trial processes. 

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders within the finance and clinical operations organization to manage the clinical trial progress against budget and ensure the recording of clinical accruals on a timely and accurate basis. 

  • Participate in the development and execution of deliverables for internal as well as external audit, legal and other parties to ensure timely completion of the company’s quarterly review and annual audit 

  • Assist the technical accounting team in assessing analyzing and concluding on new applicable accounting literature, SEC rules and regulations and significant or unusual transactions as well as roll out related implementation 

  • Assist with the financial statement close process, executing period end procedures over clinical trial accounting, collaboration agreement accounting and other research and development accruals. 

  • Document desktop procedures and perform required steps under SOX for each quarter-end close 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Position Requirements & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance or related field required (or relevant experience) 

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience at a SOX 404(b) compliant public companies, preferably in biotechnology industry, or regional / Big 4 public accounting firm  

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX 404(b) compliance 

  • Knowledge of clinical drug development process and/or operational aspects of clinical studies is favored 

  • CPA preferred 

  • SAP S/4 HANA experience preferred 

  • Proficiency in Excel and Word and ability to learn new systems quickly are required 

  • An independent problem-solver with strong work ethics and intellectual curiosity will thrive 

  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines.  

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
