About EarlyShares: EarlyShares was founded in 2011 with the mission to help small businesses succeed. Having helped shape the JOBS Act that was passed in April, EarlyShares is now focused on building one of the first equity-based crowd-funding platforms in America. Starting in January of 2013 when new regulations go into effect, EarlyShares will allow ordinary Americans like us to invest small amounts of money in early stage companies we believe in…and get an ownership stake in return. Under the laws of the past 80 years, that was something only available to wealthy Americans; people deemed to be “accredited investors” by the Securities Exchange Commission. That’s about to change. EarlyShares will give all Americans the opportunity to invest in early-stage companies in a way that is safe, fair and transparent.
Built in Chicago. EarlyShares is an established, well-funded company. The company had a choice in where to build a technology office. They chose Chicago over New York, Miami and the valley. Now it’s our turn to stand and deliver; show them what we’re made of here in the City of Big Shoulders.
We’re looking for a rare blend of design and development talents -- someone who is part artist and part developer. You know; a creative genius. It’s a hard blend to find, but we’ve seen our best work in Chicago happen when we do. You’ll have a huge role to play in our product – designing the initial user experience and then rolling up your sleeves to ensure it happens. You’ll join a team of talented engineers who have their own design sensibilities, but the team will look to you for the most challenging and critical features. You’ll likely have a hand in print/marketing design as well – either filling the gap until a full-time print designer is hired, or potentially leading our design team as it grows.
This position will report to Jace Mouse, our new Chief Technology Officer in our new Chicago office.
Bonus Points: We don’t expect anyone to have all these skills, but it’s nice.
