We are currently hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) to manage the day to day maintenance and repairs of our building. The FMT reports directly to the General Manager.

As an integral part of the Zen Compound operations team, everything you do will be in the interest of providing an excellent experience to our customers, members and guests while operating an efficient business that continues to exceed profit expectations.

You are a great communicator, keeping your supervisor updated regularly, and staying in touch with the heads of each department your work will interact with. You take pride in doing the job right the first time and make sure your work results in an elegant solution that enhances the physical space. You are detail oriented and sweat the small stuff, while keeping the big picture in mind.

Your days will be filled with:

  • External and internal maintenance of our facilities at 540 Howard street

  • External and internal maintenance of our executive residence

  • Maintaining equipment and facilities to the highest standards and including    

    • Light Electrical

    • Light Plumbing

    • Light HVAC

    • Light Carpentry

    • Painting

    • Flooring

    • Outdoor and facade maintenance

    • General facility repairs.

  • Performing property-specific duties as assigned

  • Notifying the management of parts and materials required.

  • Performing all duties as assigned by management

  • Hours of Duty:  Varies by property.  Typical is Monday-Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm

  • Responding to after-hours emergency calls within an agreed upon time frame

  • Maintaining company tool inventory in good working condition

  • Inspecting, operation and troubleshooting all fire alarms and sprinkler systems.

  • Performing preventive maintenance inspections on emergency lighting units, exit lights and portable fire extinguishers per schedule and marks inspection tags per schedule

  • Removing and installing interior and exterior signage

  • Investigating and monitoring all roof leaks

  • Recording maintenance and repair information in accordance with guidelines established by management direction or policy/procedure

  • Maintaining productivity-enhancing communications and working relationships with third-party contractors and suppliers


The Facilities Maintenance Technician must possess the following qualifications:


  • A professional and courteous attitude with both team members and customers of the Zen Compound, at all times

  • Project and personnel management, budget planning and oversight

  • Must be available for after-hours emergency maintenance as needed or required

  • Must possess the ability to perform the physical demands of the job responsibilities:

    • Lifting objects up to 50 pounds

    • Frequent standing, walking and kneeling

    • Occasional climbing, working from a ladder and balancing.

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritized multiple tasks and demands

  • Must be able to work independently and possess strong leadership and decision making skills

  • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with individuals at levels of an organization, customers and subcontractors

  • Possess valid state-issued driver’s license needed to travel to adjacent properties or to respond to after-hours trouble calls.  Must be insurable at all times during employment tenure.

  • Utilize basic business software, including Google products for word processing and email.  Use systems tools for maintaining service records.

  • Display follow-through in carrying out directions from management

  • Demonstrate teamwork skills in relations with co-workers


This is a 40+ hour a week job and you may work nights or weekends when projects require it. The salary starts at $50k and we offer full health benefits, great perks and a vacation policy.
