MSSQL DBA-Developer

The SSQL DBA-Developer will utilize software best practices to create, modify and maintain proprietary corporate software solutions within a large wine supplier. The WX Brands software solutions vary in complexity and scope but serve nearly all functional areas of the company. The primary deliverables for this role are database/data warehousing solutions that directly or indirectly support the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Database Administration & Optimization
  • Administer, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across production and development environments
  • Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal query performance
  • Design and manage ETL processes for integrating data from ERP, Operational OLTP sources and other Third Party systems into the data warehouse
• Data Integration & Architecture
  • Capable of interacting with Users to clarify requirements to design robust data pipelines and ensure reliable data flow between systems
  • Support and enhance data models to facilitate reporting, forecasting, and advanced analytics
  • Manage schema versioning, indexing strategies, and database documentation
• Data Governance & MDM
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining enterprise Data Governance standards
  • Support Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives to ensure consistency across systems (customers, products, pricing, etc.)
  • Implement processes to monitor and improve data quality, lineage, and compliance
• Security, Backup & Recovery
  • Maintain database security, role-based access control, and compliance with data privacy requirements (,Integrated AD User admin, TDE, backup compression, etc)
  • Oversee backup, restore, and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
• Innovation & AI Enablement
  • Partner with Analytics and IT teams to prepare and optimize data for AI/ML projects
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies and tools that improve data efficiency and insight generation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience as a DBA with Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments
• Proven experience integrating data from JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, VIP, and TradeParency (or similar ERP/pricing/distribution systems)
• Strong SQL skills with expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and stored procedures
• Experience with ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM), and data quality frameworks
• Understanding of database security, backup, and recovery best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OnPrem MSSQL database installations
• Experience with Azure SQL or cloud-based database solutions
• Exposure to AI/ML, predictive analytics, or data science platforms
• Familiarity with Power BI or other visualization tools
• Experience supporting business intelligence and reporting environments
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) desirable
