Bottling Supervisor

Bottling Line | Sonoma, CA | Full Time | From $30.00 to $35.00 per hour

Job Description

The Bottling Supervisor leads by example overseeing the bottling line’s personnel and production at our Sonoma bottling facility. This role is responsible for safety, quality, efficiency, and inventory, ensuring we are meeting company metrics. The Bottling Supervisor is tasked with achieving and improving output at the best possible cost. Leads daily and weekly activities of staff while driving continuous improvement. This role requires a leader who can think strategically and engages their team to continue building a culture that focuses on safety, quality, and drive production efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safety system that meets all OSHA requirements and drives a culture of safety first at the facility.
  • Ensure that employees are trained and follow agreed procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage and record Metrics.
  • Manage all aspects of the bottling line and production to ensure bottling targets are met.
  • Ensure that materials are received, and inventory is accurate.
  • Ensure NAV inventory is accurate.
  • Create and close work orders.
  • Establish a team-based approach and environment motivating personnel to achieve and/or exceed department standards and goals.
  • Build strategic working relationships with peers to ensure consistent flow of information, execution of procedures, performance of the overall operations.
  • Ensure Sanitation is executed effectively at the start and end of the Shift.
  • Complete understanding of the specific safety procedures for the assigned work area.
  • Capable of setup, shutdown, operating, troubleshooting issues, and making minor adjustments to equipment. Includes but not limited to the depalletizer, bottle rinser, filler, corker, screw capper, capsule applicator, labeler, case packer, case sealer, palletizer, inspection equipment, bailer, forklift, laser coders, and case label applicator.
  • Capable of creating case labels.
  • Capable of driving forklift for the bottling line and performing all the required tasks for the position.
  • Assist in line changeovers.
  • Perform all required quality checks and fill out all required forms for the assigned work area.
  • Perform basic cellar skills including tank measurements, additions, connecting wine pumps, hoses, and lines.
  • Perform steam and chemical sanitations for filtration and bottle fillers.
  • Perform filter integrity checks.
  • Ability to pack bottles in cases, lift up to 50 lbs., stack full boxes properly, perform specialized rework projects, and perform basic packaging duties.
  • Contribute to and uphold quality standards and quality management system policies.
  • General Housekeeping.
  • Ability to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime when required by business needs.
  • Able to stop a bottling line due to unsafe conditions or unacceptable quality results.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Key Relationships:

  • Directly manage line operators.
  • Closely collaborate with the Director of Bottling.
  • Communicate with suppliers and purchasing team on deliveries.
  • Work with contract maintenance personnel to ensure equipment reliability.

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in food Manufacturing/Bottling/Packaging environment.
  • Strong leadership and teambuilding skills.
  • Experience creating and following continuous improvement programs.
  • Firsthand knowledge of bottling lines.
  • Ability to develop talent, inspire and motivate team members.
  • Ability to plan, organize and control a complex, dynamic and highly technical operation.
  • Participatory and consensus-based management style.
  • Technical orientation.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Have a basic knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft office software.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in speaking/writing Spanish a plus.
