About the Position

The Hein Company seeks a Head Chef to oversee our Hein & Dine program which involves preparing breakfast, lunch, and take-home dinners for our employees and building tenants. This is a unique opportunity and not like your typical restaurant. If you are passionate about food and want to work in a friendly and inclusive environment, this is the place for you.

The Head Chef’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning the weekly breakfast, lunch, take-home dinner, and special events menus.
  • Participating in and directing the preparation of all cooking and baking of ordered items.
  • Maintaining the Hein & Dine ordering system, including updating which items are available for purchase and pushing out weekly menu updates to patrons.
  • Shopping for food ingredients and snack items that will be resold through the Hein & Dine program and ensuring that all supplies are stocked, and properly stored.
  • Performing supervisory responsibilities that include but are not limited to, making staffing decisions, training, engaging in performance management, managing employee’s schedules, and overseeing workflow.   
  • Reporting all kitchen expenses to management and providing the necessary receipts and paperwork.
  • Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with established health and safety standards.
  • Interfacing with Hein & Dine customers and providing a high level of service.
  • Any additional responsibilities as requested by Management.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic as well as culinary math, (i.e. doubling recipes, changing volume to mass for ingredients, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and productive manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma required; Culinary degree preferred
  • At least 3 years working as a chef and supervising a commercial kitchen or similar customer-based dining environment.

 

Other Position Information

Schedule

Sunday: 4 hours for shopping/prep work (time is flexible)

Monday – Thursday: 5:30am – 3:00pm
