This role combines both tactical and strategic activities which must often be conducted simultaneously and coordinated with other groups. As the Director of Operations, you are passionate about building scalable and efficient processes. You are also excellent at identifying, prioritizing, and executing continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Effective people leadership - motivating, coaching and developing team members is a must. A commitment to innovation, quality, and community are also must haves. The role is a critical component in the delivery of quality products to our customers and fulfilling our company vision and mission. 

As the Director of Operations, you will be detail-oriented and own daily operations of supply chain, mixing, production and fulfillment by leading and supporting scalable growth for multiple channels in a CPG business. You should be comfortable wearing multiple hats and providing both strategic and tactical leadership in a fast-growth, fast-paced business environment.  This role reports to the VP of Operations. 

General Management:

 PLAN

  • Be accountable, and hold team members accountable, to metrics    

Responsibilities: 

  • Effectively establish and maintain a culture of operations excellence aligned with Wondercide’s values

  • Optimize and implement manufacturing and operations processes for safety, product quality, cost efficiency, and overall company profitability

  • Identify, coordinate, and execute Lean initiatives

  • Collaborate with VP of Operations on budget and P&L for operations department

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and processes

  • Apply advanced manufacturing engineering leadership techniques, including lean manufacturing

  • Maintain effective relationships with other key stakeholders across the organization that leverage resources and motivate personnel to create and maintain a high performance culture

  • Align resources on prioritization and execution of projects and activities based on company goals and the value they will deliver to the business

  • Analyze mixing, production, fulfillment and supply chain operations to help establish key performance metrics 

  • Evaluate department needs to meet performance goals and plan staffing requirements accordingly

  • Author job descriptions, screen, interview, hire and develop training plan for new hires within department

  • Manage, hold accountable, and develop supervisors, leads, and team members

  • Re-establish and enforce “A place for everything and everything in its place” and lean initiatives

  • Establish and enforce SOP’s

  • Maintain and lead a culture of continuous process improvement (observe, plan, execute)

  • Establish and enforce Quality controls for finished goods across all of operations

  • Support and project manage facilities including real estate negotiations and facility build out

  • Oversee facility maintenance - repairing what we can or contacting outside vendors as needed

  • Set and maintain departmental KPI’s to track outcomes and provide business intelligence; report findings to senior management and other departments at determined intervals

  • Oversee inventory control including cycle counts, physical inventory and reconciliation with accounting/finance

  • Manage demand and capacity planning for current and future needs

  • Drive cost savings and optimization of freight, waste, cogs, etc

  • Oversee supply chain management including sales & inventory forecasting, inventory controls, vendor relations, sourcing & purchasing of all materials & equipment, and vendor terms

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant industry experience    

  • Proven track record in building, coaching and developing a team

  • Demonstrated success scaling businesses from $10M to $75M in the last 7 years

  • Experience and demonstrated success in a leadership role, optimizing manufacturing and operations

  • Advanced Knowledge in Lean principles, including ability to teach others, and successful execution of Lean initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams

  • Proven ability to identify, develop and execute effective solutions to manufacturing and operations challenges 

  • Excellent with numbers, calculations, reporting and quantitative analysis

  • Proficient in Google for Business and ability to quickly learn software applications

  • Strong engineering and business presence

  • Demonstrated success in JIT manufacturing
