Boston-based WEGO Health is the first online home for consumer health activists, social media’s most active 10 percent, passionate about helping others lead healthier lives. Health activists – social media organizers, connectors, leaders and contributors – meet at WEGO Health, then carry knowledge, content and relationships back to the health social Web. In addition, WEGO Health’s Activist Network is the trusted community liaison to pharmaceutical and health marketers, familiar with professional key opinion leader programs. Marketers engage the Activist Social Network through innovative sponsorships, industry advisory panels, collaborative content development, widget distribution and more. Founded in 2007 and led by online health pioneers Jack Barrette and Bob Brooks, WEGO Health gives consumer health activists a voice to industry, and helps the world’s top health and pharmaceutical brands support, navigate, and participate in the evolving world of health social media.

WEGO Health is a different kind of social media company.  We’re experts at indentifying online consumer opinion leaders who are talking about health, then we reach out and engage them in a variety of activities on behalf of our sponsors.


Sponsor Programs Manager

Execute and help evolve our innovative community sponsorship programs as a liaison between pharmaceutical/health companies and our community of online Health Activists. You’ll work directly with our Sponsor Programs Director and our Community Team in a fast-paced, always-changing role.


3 Key Components of the position include:

1. Sponsor Program Management

  • Manage project plans and schedules, working with tech, community and product teams
  • Implement social media marketing programs working with some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and health companies
  • Execute all aspects of sponsor programs, working with our community team to find appropriate but effective ways to educate and engage
  • Coordinate and participate in market research, community education, technical development and program tracking efforts
  • Drive our on-time, everyone’s-happy, under-promise / over-deliver approach

2. Community Recruitment

  • Work directly with our Community Team to contact Health Activists for participation in sponsored programs
  • Drive online social media marketing campaigns to identify and vet Health Activists for our community
  • Bring new ideas and energy to engage our health social media opinion leaders

3. New Sponsor Development

  • Develop program proposals and participate in new sponsor meetings
  • Identify new sponsors through active research
  • Brainstorm new program ideas to match community needs with sponsor goals


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A talent for online and phone persuasion
  • Relentless enthusiasm for our mission + energy and intellectual curiosity
  • 2-3 years of account service experience, ideally at an online agency or publisher
  • A strong working knowledge of health; pharmaceutical marketing experience a plus
  • A great sense of humor·
  • Comfort with technology, tools and cool new stuff, bordering on geeky
  • Good social skills online and in person - patience and wit are essential
  • Strong, professional writing skills online and everywhere else

Ability to work in a do-it-yourself, all-hands-on-deck startup environment
