System Administrator / DevOps Engineer

Job Description

The System Administrator / DevOps Engineer is responsible for automating and building, monitoring, and management of on-prem hardware and the cloud compute infrastructure used every day to host all of Web Shop Managers clients and internal tools. This engineer is constantly looking to optimize systems and services for security, automation, and performance/availability, while ensuring solutions developed adhere and align to architecture standards. This individual is responsible for ensuring that technology systems and related procedures adhere to organizational values. Web Shop Manager is currently in the process of implementing many modern technologies into our system and platform and the System Administrator / DevOps Engineer will have a strong influence on the technology Web Shop Manager uses for years to come.


  • Manage and administer enterprise level internal/external physical and cloud networks, which include, but are not limited to, the following systems, services, and policies: e-mail, intrusion detection, firewall, VPN, network accounts, network monitoring systems, BYOD, user workstations, backup, disaster recovery, storage, virtualization, patch/update management, and external IT vendor relationships

  • Analyze existing network infrastructure and policies to identify and drive improvements

  • Provide hardware and software support to end users

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop processes related to network architecture
    Maintain and manage software and hardware inventory

  • Effectively communicate sophisticated concepts to both technical and non-technical users

  • Other duties as required


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology

  • Five years’ experience architecting and maintaining distributed, enterprise level networks

  • Broad knowledge of information technology, including best practices and troubleshooting skills

  • Well-developed understanding of both current and emerging attack vectors and security threats

  • Experience with Linux

  • Experience deploying, managing, and maintaining technologies including DNS, databases,virtualization platforms, web applications, NAS/SAN, middleware, access control

  • Functional knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Perl

  • CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI, etc..)

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking

  • Experience with technology from enterprise networking vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Checkpoint

  • Comfortable working independently in a data center environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds comfortably
