VP of Engineering

Job Description

Watermark is currently seeking a VP of Engineering. With primary development offices in New York and Mohali, and other teams working on satellite modules in Milwaukee, Denver, and Portland, Maine, the Watermark V.P. of Engineering will help establish and disseminate standards and processes across offices.

You’re passionate about organizational effectiveness and developing engineers to reach their maximum potential. The VP Engineering will partner directly with and report to the Chief Technology Officer. 


  • Leadership:

    • Must want to “transform“ the organization. Must want to continuously improve the organization. Someone who is a decision maker and can facilitate strong decisions rapidly which help lead the organization in the right direction. 

    • Lead teams of skilled engineers in the development of high quality, high performance software in the New York Office as well as helping to improve efficiencies across multiple offices.  

    • Work directly with CTO, leadership and other team members to ensure engineering goals align to overall company goals

    • Mostly responsible for the Agile process with some collaboration with the Product organization

    • Work with engineering peers across all offices in different geographies to foster a culture of excellence.

    • Help disseminate information across the entire organization regarding technology decisions and their implications.

    • Advocate for the engineering team both internally and externally, as a thought leader at tech meetups, industry panels, and conferences.

  • Management

    • Drive the Engineering recruitment process, inspiring the best engineers to join our team.

    • Manages the software engineers, quality assurance, scrum masters and Enterprise Architect in the New York Office.

    • Coordinate with Enterprise Architect (and others) in some or all of:

      • Data API design and service implementation

      • Data storage architecture and optimization

      • Data visualizations and interactions

      • Large scale data harvesting and transformation systems


  • 5+ years Technical leadership experience

  • 9+ years software engineering experience

  • Strong computer science fundamentals 

  • Experience leading multiple teams
