Senior Revenue Accountant

Finance | Westbrook, ME | Full Time

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to join our team in Westbrook, Maine.  Reporting to our Controller, this person will play a key role on our Finance team by maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the customer invoicing, deferred revenue, revenue recognition policies, including SAS 606 and by ensuring all invoices are properly recorded to the accounting systems in accordance with the contract terms.  If you are a natural problem-solver, with excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.  

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Ensuring all invoicing and revenues are set up properly in all related company systems

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of deferred revenue inputs and revenue recognition calculations 

  • Maintaining deferred revenue / revenue recognition schedules and ensuring complete monthly reconciliation to the general ledger

  • Working closely with the Director of Revenue Operations to ensure invoices are properly created, terms and established processes are being followed

  • Review significant customer contracts, new products and offerings, and financial statement disclosures to ensure compliance with ASC 606

  • Assist in the contract formation and system set up for recurring billing

  • Maintaining the revenue side of contract management software (when implemented)

  • Review, reconcile and monitor sales forecasts and revenue reports on a monthly basis

  • Manage sales tax filing and reporting requirements for the company

  • Responsible for all aspects of the annual audit as it relates to revenue/deferred revenue recognition

  • Work closely with billings analyst to ensure that all sales and contracts are recorded correctly

  • Work closely with invoicing specialists to ensure invoices are capturing information to properly record revenue and deferred 

  • Assist in process improvements to develop internal controls

  • Other accounting/finance projects as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

  • Minimum of 3 years revenue accounting experience, preferably in a SAAS or tech company, or 3+ years of public accounting experience, audit background preferred 

  • Deferred revenue/revenue recognition experience preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Proven experience of working with tight deadlines and being able to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Superior communication skills with high standards of customer service

  • Strong team player with ability to work with remote teams cross functionally 

  • Highly organized, structured & process-oriented, with great attention to detail, accuracy & consistency

  • Positive, can-do attitude, problem solver, inspiring and energetic

  • A quick learner who enjoys overcoming challenges, resolving issues, or escalating as needed
