Senior Product Manager

Job Description

Watermark is looking for an ambitious product manager with a track record of creating winning products and who wants to contribute to our innovation in the educational intelligence category. 

The Watermark Senior Product Manager is responsible for the strategy and development of a set of products. This role will oversee our products relating to catalog and curriculum management, course evaluation and institutional surveying, and they will work closely with development teams based in Maine and Colorado.

This role will report directly to the VP of Product in NYC.


Know What to Build

  • Lead the strategy and execution for catalog and curriculum management, and course evaluation and institutional surveying products

  • Review competitive and alternative offerings in the market. Assess their strengths and weaknesses. Develop a strategy for winning against the competition.

  • Maintain a level of product domain knowledge by attending conferences and other professional development activities

  • Gather feedback from a variety of input channels including sales, support, and implementation teams on product in production and incorporate feedback into the backlog

  • Document problems and requirements from feedback and product strategies, and turn those requirements into workable epics and user stories

  • Participate in and conduct discovery and backlog grooming meeting with teams

  • Develop and maintain clearly prioritized product roadmap and release backlogs that reflect alignment with the greater product vision and strategy as well as a balance between key priority drivers

Get it Built

  • Work with cross-functional partners -- e.g. UX designer, architects, software developers throughout the development cycle to create winning solutions to problems and perform final story acceptance

  • Develop, track, and report on key metrics that inform product success and make informed decisions based on data as part of the product development process

Make it Successful

  • Generate launch and go-to-market plans and documentation for the new modules and enhancements

  • Cultivate client feedback from conception to release; incorporate pre and post-release end-user feedback into the backlog

  • Describe the product by its ability to solve market problems. Create internal positioning documents that will be used to develop external messages focused on each key buyer or persona.

  • Develop strategic relationships with clients in order to better understand user needs for additional system capabilities


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Five or more years of agile product management experience in a higher education or business-to-business SaaS environment

  • Experience working on multiple products or across product lines

  • Experience working with distributed teams, including development and stakeholder teams in different timezones
