RFP  Technical Writer


        Watermark is looking for a qualified RFP Technical Writer that will be responsible for executing a diverse range of responsibilities within the scope of creating, organizing, developing, and producing proposals and other formally requested client correspondence. This strategic position plays an integral role in supporting Sales and Client Success team members through the completion of Requests for Proposals (RFPs)  and other related client correspondence to support Watermark’s growth objectives.  

        The RFP Technical Writer specializes in crafting well-written and compelling responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)  working with various departments including Sales, Product, and Client Services to coordinate information, determine overall sales strategy, and obtain answers to specific inquiries.  This individual will also organize materials into a professional format, paying careful attention to completeness and accuracy to demonstrate Watermark’s ability to align with a prospective client’s needs as a technology partner.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write tailored, well-positioned responses and assemble information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation criteria

  • Ensure that questions are comprehensively answered and those written responses are appropriately customized for the specific opportunity with particular emphasis on compliance and consistent messaging throughout the materials

  • Translate and synthesize information into proposals that targeted audiences can understand, while maintaining the technical accuracy and completeness of the intended response

  • Utilize internal  product and marketing resources  as well as collaborate with Sales, Product, Technology, Marketing and other subject matter experts across the organization to craft RFP responses

  • Manage a structured, organized RFP process and perform data collection tasks that establish  priorities and strict deadlines  for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings and transmitting proposals

  • Develop and hone a strong knowledge base of Watermark’s solutions and differentiation   as well as knowledge of the higher education market to effectively understand and respond to RFP requests

  • Maintain  a repository of  RFP materials and assist with the archiving of proposal content as part of proposal closeout procedures 

  • Develop templates to ensure the quality of materials and follow proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with an emphasis in Business Administration, Communication, or equivalent experience in technical writing or new business proposal (RFP) writing

  • Previous experience in a technology organization

  • Project management and organization skills are essential, including the ability to marshal resources and communicate and manage timelines and responsibilities

  • Ability to construct consumable, value-based written responses based on technical, feature-based documentation

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • Highly self-motivated and data-driven

  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Understanding of the SaaS sales process

  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Requirements


  • Previous technical proposal experience for a technology company

  • Experience in educational technology for higher education
