The Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) homeless prevention program provides comprehensive supportive services to very low-income veterans and their families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing.  The range of support is designed to promote housing stability and includes outreach, case management, assistance with obtaining benefits, health care, financial planning, transportation, child care, and temporary financial assistance. Must be a very low-income single veteran or a family in which the head of household or spouse is a veteran at risk of becoming homeless.

Job Summary:

The Veterans Resource Manager will facilitate information and access to resources for providers of services to veteran households who either are at-risk or are homeless in LA County & Orange County. Acts as point person for client service recovery issues; responsible for problem resolution, maintaining strong relationships with clients, and communicating outcomes to the internal management team and staff, as appropriate. Manages compliance related matters for the program, including providing communications and training to staff on new and/or updated requirements. Also, responsible for data analytics and recommendations for improvements based on the data.  As needed, acts as backup for the program management team.  




Client Management 

1.    Acts a point person for client recovery issues, typically Veterans Administration and VOA national office. Communicates problem resolution outcomes to management and staff, as appropriate.

2.    Develops and maintains strong relationships with government or elected officials and service stakeholders such as, schools, health and public benefit agencies.

3.    Attends community meetings, and business groups that require consortium representation.

  1. Reviews client feedback on program satisfaction, and provides input to Management.


1.    Develops and updates a database of community contacts and resources including community leaders, activists and supporters.

2.    Provides data analysis including data based recommendations for program improvements.

3.    Oversees the submittal of HMIS Clarity Reports to the VA


1.    Stays abreast of all new relevant regulations.

2.    Provides guidance and trading on regulation program requirements to program management and staff.

3.    Assist in completing with grants compliance and grant development.

Acts as backup for the program management team, as needed.



  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or the equivalent combination of relevant education and experience (four years’ direct relevant experience is equal to a Bachelor’s degree) in the areas of marketing, human services, customer service, sales or community outreach or related field


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with veterans in a resource community program. Experience must include the management of data bases and websites, including data analytics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong understanding of community outreach planning and programming
  • Strong knowledge of the management of data bases and websites
  • Strong knowledge of veteran experience and resource needs

  • Strong knowledge of customer recovery protocols


·         Effective written and oral communications skills

·         Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite

·         Strong leadership skills

·         Strong data base and data analytic skills

·         Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills


·         Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems and communicate solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with government or elected officials and veteran households including a wide variety of service stakeholders (schools, health and public benefit agencies)
  • Valid California driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation


Preferred Skills for this Position:

  • Master’s Degree in related area preferred  
  • U.S. Veteran strongly preferred
  • HMIS Database experience strongly preferred
