Ballington Plaza provides 270 subsidized housing units for veterans, graduates of substance abuse programs, people with disabilities, former Skid Row residents, and the working poor. This facility provides multiple support services to its residents and has a beautifully landscaped courtyard and comfortable community areas making Ballington Plaza an OASIS IN THE HEART OF SKID ROW.

Responsibilities:

The Resident Services Coordinator supports professional staff members in the delivery of services to senior resident clients by performing the following:

  • Works with Property Management to provide service linkages and support systems to senior residents to assure individual needs are met
  • Maintains daily contact to identify new and ongoing service needs
  • Coordinates access to supportive services including, but not limited to, health services, medical appointments, and crisis intervention, as needed
  • Coordinates in-home medical services and medical equipment as needed
  • Assures that facilities are accessible and safe for senior residents
  • Provides information and coordinates application process for available benefits including social security, Medicare, supplemental insurance and long-term care insurance
  • Develops and conducts community programs and recreational activities for senior residents
  • Maintains records and summarizes data to provide regular reporting
  • Will be available to all residents
  • Ensures compliance with HACLA
  • Ensures fulfillment of the the requirements for AHP funding
  • Ensures successful compliance reviews every three years
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related discipline
  • 5 years of work experience in social work or related field
  • Knowledge of concerns and problems facing elderly individuals
  • Ability to interact with individuals with challenging personalities or facing crisis situations in a caring and comforting manner
  • Strong writing ability in English (and Spanish preferred)
  • 1-3 years of work experience working with the elderly preferred
