Program Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Monitors are responsible for monitoring the facility and residents, make available knowledge of the 12-step process and generate an atmosphere of mutual self-respect and cooperation.The program is intended to motivate participants toward reduction of harm associated with substance abuse and past non-compliance with treatment and other recommendations.


The AOD Monitor:

  • Assist Clinicians and Counselors/Case Managers in client supervision and service delivery, if applicable
  • Assist in maintenance of program records and files
  • Work in cooperation with the agency’s Clinical Director and other key staff to collect, coordinate, maintain, and report program data as needed for program funding, if applicable
  • Conduct thorough room and ground checks
  • Assure that all emergency needs of residents are met and these incidents are reported as required by Clinicians and Program Managers and SCADP, Inc.
  • Assure adherence to all safety rules and regulations as per SCADP, Inc. policies
  • Answer phones, complete telephone assessments and screen prospective clients for eligibility and provide information, referrals, and assistance to callers
  • Attend monthly staff development meetings and weekly staff meetings
  • Provide client transportation, if applicable
  • Maintain open, complete, and accurate verbal and written communications with all staff and residents
  • Must be self-motivated and able to follow job duties alone during this shift
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager and the Clinicians


  • Must be registered or certified by an approved accrediting certified body
  • Must have completed module 1 from American Society of Addiction Medicine or willing to with two weeks of hire
  • High school diploma (or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Additional Preferred:

  • At least 1 year employment background in mental health, substance use disorder recovery or homelessness preferred
  • At least 1 year in residential treatment setting preferred
  • If recovering substance user, must have at least 3 years of sobriety
  • Willing to work with substance abuse clients, mental health, LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS
  • Understanding of harm reduction (non-abstinence) approach with participant substance use helpful
  • Able to read and write English
