Program Coordinator - (Rapid Rehousing Program)

Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Under general supervision the Program Coordinator will:

  • Provide support to Program Manager by assisting with program reporting duties and quality assurance efforts
  • Assist to oversee program operations by providing training, resources, and support
  • Document and maintain all case files in physical files, HMIS or other identified database
  • Conduct screenings and assessments with literally homeless households, as appropriate to develop a case plan
  • Develop individualized service plans with each participant to address their housing needs, as well as other identified needs
  • Provide service linkages and support systems for individuals, to ensure identified needs are met
  • Make referrals to supportive services such as job developers, social workers, and health care providers
  • Provide supportive counseling and advocacy for individuals; provide crisis intervention, if needed
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 1 - 3 years experience working with homeless families/individuals or people in recovery
  • Ability and desire to work with people from various backgrounds and/or limited English capabilities
  • Ability to develop relationships with families as well as a variety of service stakeholders (schools, health, and public benefit agencies)  
  • Effective written and oral communications skills

Additional Requirements

  • Valid California driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation
  • Experience using database programs; HMIS experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel as well as Internet use
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
