Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Under general supervision the Program Coordinator will:

  • Provide support to Program Manager, Assistant Director, and/or Director by assisting with program reporting duties and quality assurance efforts
  • Assist in the design implementation of new programs funded by Federal, State, local and private sources.
  • Assist to oversee program operations by providing training, resources, and support
  • Support with overall programmatic growth and process improvement
  • Assist development team in preparation of applications and grants from varies funding sources including federal, state and local agencies as well as private foundations
  • Assist development team with startup of new programs including assisting with staffing logistics and related needs to establish new programs
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors Degree preferred; Masters Degree preferred, MSW preferred
  • 1 - 3 years experience working in social services
  • Ability and desire to work with people from various backgrounds and/or limited English capabilities
  • Ability to develop relationships with a variety of services stakeholders (schools, health, and public benefit agencies)  
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent project management ability with organizational skills Valid California driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation
  • Experience using database programs; HMIS experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel as well as Internet use
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
