Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.   • Moves office, conference room, or furniture such as desks, chairs, cabinets, easels, bookcases, etc. within rooms and/or between buildings
  • Moves furniture or other office/classroom items in support of the set-up and take down activities from meetings, public events, or conferences
  • Assists with assembling furniture or other office items
  • May load and unload supplies/shipments received using a forklift or manual lifting
  • May train employees on safety, moving techniques, and USF rules and policies
  • Picks up trash and may perform light cleaning duties of the rooms, offices, or conference areas


  • High school diploma or GED, must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with making moves of furniture and other heavy objects; custodial experience helpful
  • Must be able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to:
    • Repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis without assistance
    • Repetitive bending, stooping, standing, climbing and walking continually
    • Working with noise and dust
  • Must have valid California driver's license and have clean driving record to be insured by VOALA insurance in order to drive company vehicles

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write instructions in English preferred
