For young women coming out of the foster care system, our Women's Care Cottage is an 18 to 24 month program providing the opportunity for 18 to 21 year old who have been on probation or had a court related foster care case to develop the ability to live independently with pride and dignity.


The Women's Care Cottage Monitor  assists in monitoring the facility and clients with respect and compassion while ensuring client safety and security.  

  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of Women's Care Cottage participants, guest and property
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances immediately
  • Responsible to complete written reports and incidents logs of daily activities and irregularities, such as: unusual occurrences, equipment or property damage, theft, and presence of unauthorized persons
  • Call police or fire department in cases of emergency: such as fire or presence of unauthorized clients/persons
  • Some maintenance/janitorial duties as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Dispenses client medications in accordance with instructions and maintains logs of client compliance; administers breathalyzer and urinalysis tests, as needed
  • Answers telephones and takes messages for clients and staff; monitors doors and greets clients
  • Oversees preparation and serving
  • Inputs required data to computer systems; completes written reports and incidents
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working with youth
  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment)
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug testing
  • Must be reliable and have the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and to write clearly to be able to complete required paperwork
  • Must be able to work effectively with people from all walks of life with compassion, to be covered by VOA's insurance carrier

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with administering prescription medications and drug/alcohol usage testing desirable
  • Bi-lingual a plus
