Position Overview:

A monitor at the Transitional Living Program will help provide services for up to RHY (female and male) ages 17 and under youth who have left home without the permission of their parents or guardians, have been forced to leave home, or other homeless youth who might end up in contact with law enforcement or in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems.  This program will be located in Antelope Valley (SPA 1) in northern Los Angeles County.    


  • Ensure Transitional Living Program is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Answer telephone and take messages for youth and staff; monitor doors and greet clients
  • Oversee preparation and serving of nutritious meals
  • Secure the facility, including periodically walking the facility and making reports as needed
  • Observe and report suspicious or unusual activities to the appropriate authorities
  • Ensure the ongoing safety of youth and immediately report and address any signs of harassment or other bullying or conflict issues
  • Oversee youth medications in accordance with instructions and maintain logs of client compliance
  • Assist in integrating positive youth development strategies and other evidence-informed practices to provide a holistic service approach including providing life skills through “teachable” moments
  • Ensure all interactions are provided through a trauma-informed care approach
  • Provide advice, encouragement, and positive role modeling for youth
  • Ensure a welcoming environment that supports and respects all clients regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, geography, socioeconomic status, language, literacy, or disability
  • Ensure adherence to standards for quality of care for clients and confidentiality
  • Participate in staff meetings, Care Coordination meetings, and required training's
  • Input required program data on HMIS
  • Complete written incident reports
  • Other tasks as assigned


  • High school diploma or GED, must be 18 years or older
  • Minimum 1 year experience in clerical position
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proven ability to do basic arithmetic
  • Able to communicate clearly, effectively, and compassionately with others

Additional Preferred:

  • Experience with administering prescription medications and drug/alcohol usage testing desirable
  • Bi-lingual a plus
