Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Pathways to Home is a year-round emergency shelter serving homeless individuals in the South Los Angeles area.  Those that are served are provided temporary shelter as well as case management services to assist with job search, medical needs, permanent housing and other supportive services.  Pathways to Home is dedicated to transforming lives one story at a time


  • Secures the facility including periodically walking the facility and making written and incident reports as needed
  • Responsible for immediately reporting suspected neglect/abuse to supervisor
  • Performs periodic maintenance and janitorial duties
  • Monitors clients to ensure that are performing daily tasks
  • Oversees front desk operations including answering phones, completing phone intakes, monitoring front door, and handling crisis intervention
  • Communicates with case management and clinical team about violations and client non-compliance for handling by designated staff
  • Inputs required data to computer systems.


  • High school diploma
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Basic Microsoft operating system navigation
  • 1 year of experience working in the field of homelessness or other social support services
  • Knowledge of local community services and other various services, HIPAA 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HMIS navigation
