LCSW - Mental Health Supervisor - Children's Services

Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we work with children (ages 2 – 5) and their families to provide the skills, confidence and stable home life necessary for a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond.


The Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for providing a broad spectrum of mental health services to children and families. The services include mental health promotion, prevention, early identification of mental health concerns, and referrals for treatment of children and families.

  • Oversees mental health area and comply with contractual obligations
  • Recruit and direct professional and para - professional employees in efficient program operations
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations to senior management for program changes and improvements
  • Develop and maintain inter - agency and community relationships
  • Collaborate with other program staff to formulate plans for effective program activities
  • Coordinate in-service training events for staff and parents
  • Monitor program compliance to funding sources' regulations as well as internal policies and procedures


  • Master's degree from a recognized (accredited) college or university in the field of social science, preferably in psychology. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)  with 4 - 5 years of experience working in a human services leadership role
  • 2 year post license required
  • Have completed the supervision course as required by the CA Board of Behavioral Services
  • DMH experience; knowledge of evidence based practices, Child Parent Psychotherapy (CCP) and/or Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT); experience in early childhood mental health
  • Experience supervising interns and staff
  • Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Fingerprint clearances required prior to employment
  • Valid California driver's license and access to automobile with adequate insurance (or have easy access to other means of reliable transportation) to make home visits and travel to other school sites

Health Requirements:

  • Proof at the time of hire
    • TB clearance within 6 months prior
    • Annual Influenza vaccination (between Aug 1 – Dec 1)
    • Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization
  • Health screening at the time of employment
  • Requires ability to interact with children in a busy environment including, but not limited to:
    • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
    • Frequently kneel and squat
    • Ability to move quickly

Additional Requirements:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and oral) desirable
