Information Technology Support Specialist

About Us:

Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.   • Provides support for stand-alone and LAN PC users, including upgrades, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Installs components, analyzes and diagnoses problems and repairs systems
  • Assists to plan and maintain computer infrastructure for office and classroom systems
  • Works with Corporate IT Operations Manager to implement new hardware/software applications
  • Train staff in new program applications; provides ongoing training and technical assistance to staff
  • Oversee 3rd party technicians and consultants as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (Preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years progressively more responsible experience in PC hardware
  • Knowledge of Windows and various platforms, audio-video, data communication, and LAN/WAN topology
  • Knowledge of voice over IP desirable
  • Knowledge of Apple OS and Hardware Desirable

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of audio-video equipment
  • Ability to sit for long period of times and lift boxes up to 50lbs frequently
  • Must have access to an automobile with adequate insurance coverage and a valid California driver's license
