HMIS Specialist - SPA 6 -(Coordinated Entry System)

We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The HMIS Specialist:

  • Verifies, corrects, and enters participant information into centralized database (HMIS)
  • Conducts regular program file audits to assure accuracy of data
  • Frequently runs regular performance reports and provides data to Program Coordinator and Manager to ensure program targets are being met
  • Creates customized reports to support program management
  • Coordinates with Case Managers and other program staff to ensure HMIS data is complete and accurate
  • Trains staff on HMIS to ensure data accuracy
  • Oversees privacy and confidentiality processes to ensure programs meet regulatory guidelines and compliance


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 1 - 3 years of experience working with HMIS or similar database systems
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, poverty, and federally funded mainstream programs such as CalWorks, Section 8, Medicaid, Healthy Way LA
  • Ability to develop relationships with community stakeholders

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid California driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Database experience (HMIS) strongly preferred
  • Provides a social and emotional culture that supports and builds teamwork through a solution oriented approach; works constructively through any site conflicts
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
