Volunteers of America of Greater Los Angeles is a large, national not-for-profit organization founded in 1896. We provide a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans’ services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.   • Transports individual program participants to and from various locations such as human service and community provider locations, work sites and medical facilities
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of the VOALA vehicle, washes and cleans interior and exterior, and takes vehicle for routine maintenance and repairs
  • Maintains trip records as well as mileage and gasoline usage records
  • Assists passengers in securing wheelchairs, car seats and other mobility devices
  • May perform facility maintenance, janitorial, and/or other duties as required



  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience


  • Must have valid Commercial Driver's license and a clean live scan clearance
  • Must have a clean driving record to be insurable by VOALA insurance
  • Basic automotive knowledge and ability to operate van
  • Must be able to perform physical activities
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis without assistance
  • Bending and sitting continually
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Must be able to work a graveyard
  • Must pass a Live Scan
  • Provides a social and emotional culture that supports and builds teamwork through a solution oriented approach; works constructively through any site conflicts

Special Skills Required to Perform this Position:

  • Must be flexible, possess the ability to take direction and enjoy working both independently and autonomously when necessary
  • Must be flexible and willing to work weekends/evenings as necessary
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills as well as the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once with attention to detail; and adapt to change as needed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a genuine desire to model and facilitate productive communication in the workplace
  • Tuberculosis screening updated annually

Preferred Skills for this Position:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
