The Barracks A “Housing First” program, providing transitional housing to single Veterans who suffer from substance abuse, mental disorders, and chronic homelessness. Refer clients to the VA where they receive mental health counseling and access to various benefits. The goal of The Barracks is to establish for clients permanent housing, and to help them attain any benefits they may qualify for through the VA and other organizations. Must have an Honorable Discharge to qualify. Case management, transitional housing, food, life skills counseling.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the Program Manager for (The New Barracks) will:

  • Direct a full range of professional and para-professional employees in efficient program operations
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations to senior management for program changes and improvements
  • Monitor program compliance to funding sources' regulations as well as internal policies and procedures
  • Advise senior management regarding future program direction
  • Develop and maintain inter-agency and community relationships
  • Collaborate with other Veteran Services program staff to ensure Veterans are transitioning into permanent housing as quickly as possible using the Housing First Model
  • Provide supervision for BBS Registrants and Graduate Level Interns
  • Coordinate in-service training events for staff
  • Assure high quality of service

Requirements:

  • MSW, MFT, or Master’s in a related field
  • LCSW, LMFT, or Psy.D required
  • Unrestricted license LMFT or LCSW
  • At least 2 years experience working with Veterans, people in recovery, and/or homeless individuals using a Harm Reduction approach
  • 4-5 years of experience in a human services leadership role preferred
  • Prior experience as a supervisor or team leader managing individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience and understanding of Harm Reduction and Housing First Model
  • Veterans with clinical and administrative experience are strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Effective written and oral communications skills (English)

  • Federal Clearance and Background check
  • Valid California driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation
  • US Armed Forces Veterans strongly preferred
