CENTRAL CITY RECOVERY (CCR)
Central City Recovery is an adult age 18 and over gender specific program offering substance abuse treatment for those who meet medical necessity for residential treatment and are eligible or have Medi-Cal or My Health LA benefits and reside in LA county. Wrap around services are provided including assessments, case management, treatment planning, individual and group counseling and linkage to community resources.
JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
Under the clinical supervision of the Clinical Director and the operations supervision of the Program Manager, the Clinical Intern will assess clients, evaluate medical necessity for treatment services and provide therapeutic counseling. The Clinical Intern shall work in collaboration with key program staff to assist in meeting the overall needs of patients.
Each Intern shall be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW). The Clinical Director shall ensure each Intern receives the direct clinical supervision required by the BBS. The internship shall conclude with the successful licensure of the Intern by the BBS.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform client screening, intake, orientation, and assessment functions necessary to complete admission to the residential program, and screen for continuing stay criteria based on ASAM Criteria.
- Assess medical necessity for treatment and complete diagnosis based on DSM IV or DSM 5 evaluation
- Ensure adherence to DMC-ODS Waiver, Title XXII, CARF standards, and HIPPA
- Repeat assessment using the ASAM Criteria at 90-day intervals following the initial assessment to measure change and guide continuing care or aftercare plans
- Deliver treatment using trauma informed approach and evidence-based practice protocols.
- Provide individual, group and family therapeutic counseling
- Provides complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all treatment in Electronic Health Record system and client files, ensuring confidentiality as required by HIPPA
- Provide field-based services as indicated
- Respond to client crises and emergencies as needed
- Act as client advocate to agencies and persons when appropriate
- Maintains the dignity and personal rights of all clients as highlighted by deploying clear and skilled crisis communication, evasion techniques when participants display hostile or volatile behaviors
- Develops positive workplace relationships with staff and peers by participation in professional development events and offering appropriate support while maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Participates in routine clinical supervision with Clinical Director
- Attend staff meetings, case conferences, required training to ensure continuum and quality of care
- Assist with training and education projects for staff, residents and community
- Serve as role model through positive, appropriate conduct and participation in agency events
- Other duties as required
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
- Master of Science or Master of Arts Degree in Human Services, Social Work or Psychology (or related discipline) from an accredited graduate school
- Current state intern number required from California BBS (BBS AMFT or ACSW registration)
- Alcohol and Drug residential treatment experience
- Experienced with moderate to severe mental health symptoms
- Electronic Health Records
- ASAM knowledge
- Knowledge of Drug Medi-Cal and Los Angeles County services provisions
- Diagnosis and treatment delivery
- Microsoft operating system navigation, outlook, word, excel, power-point, and web-based applications
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, including dealing with un-cooperative clients
- Ability to develop rapport with substance abusing populations
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to apply management skills and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity
- Able to work evenings and weekends, and be on-call for emergency/intervention needs
- Dependable, collaborative, prompt, positive mindset, flexible, and organized
- Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification by an approved accrediting organization (CCAPP, CADTP or CADEE)
- Familiarity with Electronic Clinical Management System
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Strong crisis management, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
