Victim Advocacy Program
The VOALA Victim Advocacy Program provides street outreach services through a Comprehensive Youth Centered Service Model that offers wrap around, trauma informed, culturally, gender and developmentally appropriate care. Direct services we will provide to engage RHY include outreach; gateway services (e.g., basic hygiene kits, safe sex kits, water and snacks); Drop-In Center; screening and immediate needs assessment; harm reduction/crisis stabilization; access to emergency shelter; continuum service linkages; and follow-up. The three key objectives of the program will be: 1). To build skills that will contribute to the healthy, positive, productive functioning and the healthy transition of RHY into adulthood, 2). To end the sexual victimization of youth, and 3). To identify and engage youth victims of sex trafficking and other forms of sexual exploitation. The fundamental evidence-based practices that will be utilized by this project are Positive Youth Development and Trauma-Informed Care, including utilization of a trauma-informed curriculum specifically developed for sexually exploited child victims, Ending the Game. These practices will be supplemented with evidence-based and informed approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety and Harm Reduction. All of these approaches will address the need for participants to foster Social Support and Relationship Capacity Building.
JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
The Case Manager Generalist provides case management services to clients classified as low acuity. The Case Manager Generalist is the primary point of contact to coordinate services and care for assigned clients. Each Case Manager Generalist handles a caseload of individuals in need of a wide variety of human services resources and provides the full range of services available, as described below:
- Conducts comprehensive screenings and assessments with individuals (or families) to collect functional, environmental, psycho-social, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information, as appropriate
- Assess barriers facing the clients and develop a case plan.
- Coordinate individualized planning with clients to meet short- and long-term needs.
- Provide service linkages and support systems to ensure identified needs are met.
- Coordinates case conferences with residents, consults with service team, monitors progress of clients on case plan, assists clients to meet the agreed upon goals.
- Acts as advocate for client before judicial, community, social service, and administrative bodies as needed; facilitates support groups and client participation as appropriate.
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
- HS/GED. Completion of VOALA Case Management training within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum 1-year general experience in case management or similar social services role
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services related field in lieu of experience
- Case Management ethics, HIPAA, Programmatic standards of operation and clinical engagement, clinical documentation methods, client focused ideology
- Basic Microsoft operating system navigation, outlook, word, database, excel, power-point

- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English language.

- Able to de-escalate threatening/volatile situations with clients, or in the workplace
- Bachelor’s Degree (Social Work, Social Services, public administration, public health or related field)
- 1 year of experience working with target population
