Program Summary:
Victims Assistance Sanctuary (VAS) serves victims of human trafficking nationwide.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop strategies with other Sanctuary staff to help identify, target, and provide support and resources for domestic victims of human trafficking.
  • Conduct screenings, assessments, and development of ISPs, harm reduction and safety plans.
  • Take required steps to address health, educational, vocational, recreational, social, emotional and psychological needs of each participant.
  • Provide direct linkages to community support resources and services, follow up with participants with continued care.
  • Provide street outreach, crisis stabilization, and trauma-informed care to potential domestic labor and sex trafficked victims.
  • Conduct community assessments to determine services.
  • Maintain and build partnership and coalitions with other community and government agencies providing relief to human trafficking victims.
  • Participate and assist with community awareness events, including providing victim awareness and identification training to law enforcement, FBOs and CBOs.
  • Engage potential victims through gateway services and contacts weekly.
  • Participate with other staff members on a rotating schedule to provide immediate response for victims 24/7 this includes coordination with law enforcement and community provider of street outreach.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions are those key requirements, specific tasks, and job duties of the position that are required on a regular basis (using action words such as perform, responsible for, deliver, develop, etc.).

  • Assessment - through individual meetings on a regular basis and as part of Case Management team develop a detailed plan of action to meet the client’s needs, set goals and find the necessary resources to meet those goals.
  • Coaching and Social Support - company participants to activities and services.
  • Coordinate - Care and Case Management as part of team, connecting participants to appropriate services.
  • Advocacy - for participants before other agencies/community settings.
  • Capacity Building – motivating participant progress.
  • Outreach and Engagement – Meet participants and bring into programs.
  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.


  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Valid California driver’s license, insurance, or access to a reliable mode of transportation.


  • High school diploma (or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate).


  • 6 months of experience in case management or relevant experience.


  • Basic knowledge of Case Management ethics, HIPAA, Programmatic standards of operation and clinical engagement, clinical documentation methods, and client focused ideology.

Technology Skills:

  • Basic Computer and Microsoft Windows operating system navigation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Power-point, and Internet browser.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate orally and in written English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to write clearly to be able to complete required documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing situations in various programs.
  • Ability to be organized and have great time management skills.
  • Must be reliable and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability and desire to work with people from various backgrounds.

  • Client-focused, prompt, collaborative, a team player, adaptable, communicator, organized, consistent, and compassionate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
