RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAM

The VOALA Rapid Re-Housing Program provides temporary rental assistance, intensive case management, and supportive services to assist chronically homeless families with multiple barriers to sustainable housing.

Domestic Violence / TLS

DV TLS is a rapid rehousing program funded by LAHSA that services survivors of Domestic Violence (DV) or Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) including housing-focused case management, and supportive services in an effort to secure permanent housing, financial assistance, and other related supportive services for survivors who are attempting to or actively fleeing DV/IPV, dating violence and/or stalking and experiencing homelessness.

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Case Manager – Domestic Violence will conduct intake assessments, develop service plans for program participants dealing with domestic violence, as well as provide clients with linkages and advocacy for social services. This position is a mandated reporter for child abuse, as set forth in California Penal Code Section 11165.7. The Case Manager is the primary point of contact to coordinate services and care for assigned clients

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides client centered intake screening and handles hotline callers to provide appropriate referrals and determine if individuals/families meet criteria for shelter admission.
  • Conducts comprehensive screenings and assessments with individuals (or families) experiencing Domestic Violence, to collect functional, environmental, psycho-social, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information, as appropriate.
    • Assess barriers facing the clients and develop a case plan.
    • Coordinate individualized planning with clients to meet short- and long-term needs.
    • Provide service linkages and support systems to ensure identified needs are met.
  • Coordinates case conferences with residents, consults with service team, monitors progress of clients on case plan, assists clients to meet the agreed upon goals.
  • Acts as advocate for client before judicial, community, social service, and administrative bodies as needed; facilitates support groups and client participation as appropriate.
  • Completes appropriate documentation and information on all aspects of resident care, including internal records, reports and logs, as well as required external reports to law enforcement, service providers, and funder.
  • Monitor clients, volunteers, staff and authorized visitors to assure adherence to all shelter and safety rules and regulations as per VOALA policies.
  • Seek professional development and participate in In-Service training.
  • Other duties as may be required to achieve program goals.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s Degree OR
  • a combination of education and relevant experience with victims of domestic violence (two years’ total).
  • Completion of 40-hour Domestic Violence certificate

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1-year general experience in case management (In addition to the education requirement – ie: a candidate without a degree would require two years of experience in the field plus one year as a case manager)

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Case Management ethics, HIPAA, Programmatic standards of operation and clinical engagement, clinical documentation methods, client focused ideology

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office suite, including: MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel; knowledge of database entry and use.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication skills, including written and spoken English.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflict, including dealing with un-cooperative clients.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years’ experience serving victims of domestic violence.
  • Bilingual in written and spoken English and Spanish
