Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Compensation, Benefits, and HRIS the Benefits Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration of the employee benefits programs in a highly collaborative and hands on environment. Coaches and manager Benefits Team.


  • Leads the administration and communication of benefit programs
  • This position develops, recommends and implements approved enhancements, changes and/or new benefit offerings
    • Benefits programs includes; Medical, dental, life and disability insurance plans, pension and saving plan, Workers’ Compensation, leave of absence, ADA management and wellness programs
  • Leads benefit program projects
  • This position directly coaches and manages two benefit staff members
  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time



  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.  Four years of relevant work experience equals a Bachelor’s degree


  • Minimum of five years of in-depth benefits experience in Human Resources, including significant project management experience.  Experience must include Health & Welfare benefits, pension/savings plans, leave of absence/ADA, disability insurance, workers’ compensation, and wellness programs. Experience must also include management of external vendors, brokers, and consultants
  • Minimum of two years of benefits experience in a large (1000+ employees) complex organization
  • Minimum of two years of coaching, mentoring and managing staff


  • Strong knowledge of benefits analytics and administration, including FMLA, HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, LOA, ADA/ interactive process
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of California state and federal employment laws and regulations


  • Strong computer skills:  Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to develop complex formulas, pivot tables and v-lookups in Excel


  • Strong analytical and math skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct presentations and training programs
